Job Purpose

Assist the Librarian in overall supervision and management of all sections of the library.

Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Assisting the Librarian in overall supervision and management of all the sections/departments of the library.
• Management of library staff and monitoring their professional work as allotted by the Librarian.
• Assisting the Librarian in the budgeting process. Monitoring the library spending, seeking necessary approvals for spending, and ensuring financial processes are followed as per Institute’s rules.
• Planning and management of Information Technology applications in the library.
• Management of library resources (including e-resources) and services with the help of library staff.
• Library Maintenance: Looking after all maintenance activities of the library which includes housekeeping, electrical, computer, stores, etc. and coordinating with the respective departments for the work.
• Circulation Department: Guiding the circulation in-charge staff members to carry out their functions smoothly, manually as well as on an automated library system.
• Arrangement of shift duty of circulation & contract staff: Monthly duty arrangement of circulation staff and contract staff, i.e., library trainees & stack assistants. In the absence of any staff, arrange the duty of another staff.
• Staff Development and Training: In consultation with the Librarian, arrange for training programs for library staff.  Library trainee management / Allotment of work
• Coordination and conduct of staff meetings regularly. Guiding relevant sections in the preparation of minutes of meetings and monitoring action items as per the minutes.
• Stock verification of library resources.
• Assist the Librarian in implementing the Library Committee recommendations: Provide help in the follow-up work of the last library committee meeting,

Key Skills and Abilities Required

• Knowledge about integration of Discovery services, Lean Library, and other

embedded apps

• LibGuides and other Springhare applications/ similar products /apps
• Collection and Library services assessment
• Emerging trends in Library instructions

Qualification and

 Personal Profile

• Candidate should have done Ph.D. or NET or SLET/SET qualified. First Class (60% or above) in MLISc or equivalent qualification
• Overall, 18 years of relevant experience, with 10 years or more in an academic library of repute

Compensation

Based on the experience and qualifications, compensation for selected candidates is likely to be in the range of level 12 as mapped to 7th CPC pay scales plus other standard entitlements as per IIMB Contract Appointment Rules
