Position Overview:
Kitsap Regional Library is seeking an experienced, innovative, and dynamic Branch Manager to lead the Bainbridge Island Branch Library. This position will involve the supervision of twelve employees and partnership with a full-time Public Services Supervisor for daily operations. The successful candidate will excel in building relationships within the organization, with patrons, the Bainbridge Island Friends of the Library, community organizations, and stakeholders. The ability to work proactively within diverse teams to meet community needs is essential.

The library is located on Bainbridge Island, known for its highly engaged and active community. The island offers protected green spaces, waterfront activities, a vibrant arts scene, and a top-ranked K-12 school system. Bainbridge Island is in Kitsap County, situated across the Puget Sound from the Seattle metropolitan area, providing access to thriving small businesses, outdoor activities, and a welcoming small-town atmosphere.
Position Details:
- Supervision: The Branch Manager will oversee daily operations and directly supervise a team of twelve employees.
- Ownership: The library building is owned and maintained by Bainbridge Public Library, a sixteen-member non-profit board.
- Responsibilities: The Branch Manager will manage, supervise, and direct the operation of the branch library, ensuring effective, current, and responsive library services to the community.
Benefits & Salary:
- The employee will be eligible for various benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
- The compensation range for this position is $84,572.65 to $113,658.63 annually, depending on experience.
Essential Functions:
The Branch Manager’s duties will include but are not limited to:
- Developing branch objectives aligned with organizational goals.
- Regularly reviewing local data and engaging with the community.
- Demonstrating cultural humility and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
- Establishing effective communication channels within the branch and with other library departments.
- Serving as a community leader and engaging with community organizations.
- Promoting library services and programs.
- Managing the library’s facility and equipment.
- Addressing patron questions and concerns.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of management principles and practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Budget management knowledge.
- Proficiency in using office equipment and computer software.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Schedule:
- This is a full-time exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week, with schedules subject to change to meet library needs.

Requirements:
- Master of Library Science Degree from an American Library Association-accredited school or actively enrolled in a Master of Library Science Degree accredited program with successful achievement of a Master of Library Science Degree within 2 years of hire.
- Washington State certification as a librarian or the ability to obtain based on state requirements following completion of the degree.
- Five years of supervisory/lead experience is required.
